“Vibey cafe meets laptop worker heaven”, Workshop Cafe is designed from the ground up to provide the comfort, technology, staff services, and friendly vibe that powers our customers to pursue their digital projects and personal goals hassle-free. Powered by our mobile app, customers can reserve seats in advance with 1-click, HAIL staff to their table, order food & beverage by text, and even see who else is here from our community page. Our customers are creatives, digital professionals, and just about anybody that wants a haven to crank on their computer for a few hours or all day.

 

 

Job Description

​

We are looking for a highly dynamic Director of Operations / District Manager to join our team.  As a Director of Operations / District Manager, you will be responsible for the operations of an entire district, and be empowered to make decisions that will drive business results.  You will be responsible for the financials and the people.  You will have an unparalleled opportunity to help build a fast growing company, and leave your mark on our business, our customers, and our teams.

As a startup, we are constantly refining our products to better serve our customers.  We are constantly improving processes and technology, and changing the way we do things because we want to make our products and our customer experience that much better.  You will own the customer experience from A to Z.  Not only will you be managing the launch of new products and processes within your district, we will increasingly look to you to help us architect better solutions as your knowledge of our customers and our people increase.  As we plan for new stores, we’ll want you to be actively involved in new store design, construction, and launch.

At Workshop, we love data.  We believe in measuring our store and our teams’ performance, and we hope you do too. You will be expected to drive your district’s performance to meet metrics.  Beyond that, we want to collaborate with you to develop new metrics that will better measure our performance and will engender a deeper understanding of our business.

Finally, we believe in hiring smart and motivated people, investing in them, and then empowering them with the freedom and the responsibility to make real decisions that have real impact.  As such, we’re looking for a Director of Operations / District Manager who is passionate about people development, has an eye for talent, and is motivated to build a strong team of Store Managers.

 

To sum up your responsibilities as a Director of Operations/District Manager, you will be accountable for the Operations and Leadership of all store(s) within your district, which includes:

• Operations

  • Drive P&L performance across all store(s) within your district

  • Own and enhance the customer experience; includes improving existing products and services and launching new ones

  • Improve efficiency through implementation of new processes and technology

  • Actively assist in new store construction management and roll-out

• Leadership

  • ​Curates solid team of store managers - attracts talent, inspires talent, manages and develops talent

  • Embodies Workshop brand and culture - serves as role model across all levels of the organization

 

Skills / Experience

• Experienced in managing at least 2 stores simultaneously; experienced in managing multiple stores a strong plus

• Experienced in people management and development; experienced in managing first line managers (or store managers) a strong plus

• Experienced in managing metrics and being accountable to metrics

• Demonstrated ability to work with and communicate effectively across multiple levels of the organization, from line staff to senior management

• Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced, highly dynamic environment, and deal effectively with change
